Skate or Die!

skate or die

Former pro-skater Thomas Carter, 47, still skateboards every day. A CEO and a father, he is no less of a dedicated skater today. Keeping up with his beloved sport is not much of an effort because of the private skateboarding ramp the Carters have built on their backyard. The Fred Team recently had a chance to test drive the ramp and couldn’t help but feel a little sting of jealousy.

Carter’s career as a pro skater was at its peak in the late 70s and early 80s. Back in those days the skateboarding scene was entirely different than today – money was scarce and the setting was modest compared to today. Only a handful of decent skate parks were available. Just as Carter gave up his pro career, the sport dwindled into near non-existence, only to be revived in the late 80s and finally making it big in the early 90s.

Carter’s word of advice to the young generation of skaters is simple: if you want to make to the top you gotta practice every day, practice wisely and have fun!
